Iran-Israel Conflict Escalates: US Threats & Regional Strikes

Missile and drone interceptions were reported across Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey Monday, as a confrontation linked to the U.S.-Israeli dynamic with Iran intensified, marked by escalating rhetoric and a widening geographic scope of reported military activity.

Tehran maintained its position against direct negotiations with Washington, stating it has received messages through intermediaries indicating U.S. Interest in dialogue. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei cautioned against interpreting U.S. Diplomatic overtures at face value, citing perceived inconsistencies in Washington’s approach, while reaffirming Iran’s consistent stance. He characterized proposals relayed through these channels as “excessive and unreasonable.”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump warned of potential U.S. Strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure, including power stations, oil facilities, and Kharg Island, should a diplomatic resolution not be reached. He also indicated ongoing “serious discussions” regarding the cessation of U.S. Military operations within Iran, according to a Reuters report. Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. Officials are evaluating a potential operation to secure enriched uranium from Iran, a move that could necessitate a sustained military presence within Iranian territory.

Responding to these developments, Esmail Qaani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, stated the region was entering a “novel order,” asserting that coordinated actions by allied groups have altered the strategic balance. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya wartime headquarters, affirmed that Tehran would not initiate conflict but would determine its outcome if attacked, adding that U.S. Forces and bases in the region, alongside Israeli infrastructure, remain potential targets.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced a new phase of operations, designated “Operation True Promise 4,” targeting military and strategic sites linked to U.S. And Israeli forces across multiple locations. The Iranian army also reported launching drone strikes against defense-related facilities in Israel, specifically sites associated with Elbit Systems, a major Israeli defense contractor.

Israeli media reported damage to petrochemical facilities in Haifa Bay following missile fire originating from Iran and Lebanon. The extent of the damage remains unconfirmed.

Jordan’s armed forces reported intercepting several missiles and a drone over its territory within a 24-hour period, with emergency services responding to falling debris that caused minor injuries. Qatar condemned reported Iranian strikes targeting infrastructure in Kuwait, including a camp, a power station, and a desalination facility. Saudi Arabia’s military reported intercepting multiple drones. Kuwait’s National Guard stated it had downed several unmanned aerial vehicles near protected sites.

Turkey’s defense ministry confirmed the interception of a ballistic missile entering its airspace through NATO systems in the eastern Mediterranean, remaining on high alert against potential threats. Iranian officials, however, denied launching missiles toward Turkish territory. Ankara stated it is continuing to monitor the situation closely.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran’s Khondab heavy water complex had ceased operations following significant damage sustained in recent Israeli airstrikes. The site, linked to the Arak heavy water reactor, was described as non-operational, though it reportedly did not contain declared nuclear material at the time of the attack. The IAEA continues to monitor the situation at other Iranian nuclear facilities.

At the United Nations, Iran’s permanent representative, Saeed Iravani, submitted a formal complaint to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Security Council, accusing the United States and Israel of targeting civilian industrial infrastructure, including major steel facilities. Tehran called for international condemnation and accountability, arguing that the strikes constituted violations of international law. The Security Council has not issued a public statement regarding the complaint.

The U.S. State Department has not yet responded to requests for comment on the specific allegations raised by Iran at the United Nations. A spokesperson reiterated the U.S. Commitment to regional stability and de-escalation, but did not address the reported consideration of a military operation to secure Iranian enriched uranium.
