Isabelle Huppert, the confidences of a “spectratrice”

Saved from demolition announced by the Wilsdorf Foundation, Le Plaza is regarding to enter a phase of major works before regaining its splendour. Inaugurated in November 1952, the cinema designed by the architect Marc J. Saugey was then, with its 1,250 seats, the largest room in Geneva. At a time when exhibitors are struggling to find attendance figures from before the pandemic, but when events and festivals are popular, its rebirth – like that of the Capitole in Lausanne, which is in the process of being transformed into the Maison du cinema – is heartening news. Before it closes, for a reopening scheduled for spring 2025, Le Plaza offers itself one last event, and not the least: a carte blanche to Isabelle Huppert.
