The United States embassy in the Dominican Republic announced Thursday that Isiah Parnell is the new charge d’affaires of the US diplomatic representation in the Caribbean country.

The information, provided on the embassy’s Twitter account, is accompanied by a photograph in which the diplomat appears together with Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez, whom he visited.

“We announce the arrival of our new business manager, Mr. Isiah Parnell, who held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Álvarez,” the Washington embassy said.

Parnell has held diplomatic duties at the United States Embassies in Colombia, Mexico, Kenya, Jamaica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay, and Ghana.

The new US chargé d’affaires reportedly has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in government affairs and economics from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, as well as a master’s degree in urban planning and economics from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

The former charge d’affaires of the US embassy in Santo Domingo, Robert Thomas, said goodbye to the country last February following a three-year mission.
