The France-Israel and France-Lebanon interparliamentary friendship groups, chaired respectively by Roger Karoutchi (Les Républicains – Hauts-de-Seine) and by Christine LAVARDE (Les Républicains – Hauts-de-Seine) welcome the imminent conclusion of a “historic agreement” between Israel and Lebanon on the dispute over the delimitation of the maritime border between the two countries.
“This agreement is a strong sign for peace in the Middle East; it will make it possible to remove the obstacles to the exploitation of gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the energy context that everyone knows”declared the two presidents, Christine LAVARDE and Roger KAROUTCHI.
Following the announcement by Israeli Prime Minister Yaïr LAPID, who also considered that this agreement might be a strong signal to move towards peace, on October 11, the friendship groups hope that this agreement will be officially signed as soon as possible.
