The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza said on Saturday that an Israeli army evacuation order for residents of the central Gaza Strip would move them to areas where airstrikes are underway.

In posts on its Arabic-language networks on Friday, the Israeli army ordered residents of the Bureij refugee camp and surrounding areas to “leave immediately for their own safety” towards an area presented as safe in Deir el-Balah, seven kilometers further south.

The Israeli military simply orders people to move to areas where airstrikes are underway. No place is safe, (there’s) nowhere to go“, reacted on X the director of Unrwa in Gaza, Thomas White.

The people in Gaza are human beings. They are not pieces on a chessboard – many have already been moved several times“, he added. Unrwa affirmed that the latest evacuation order concerned “more than 150,000 people“.
