JERUSALEM: The Israeli occupation forces stopped worshipers who arrived for Jumu’ah (Friday prayer) at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. Tear gas and water cannons were fired at Palestinians as they entered the mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.

Last week too, there was an attempt to stop the prayer. Aljazeera reports that 4,000 people came this week, compared to an average of 60,000 on Friday. The occupying forces tried to repel the believers who included children, youths and old people at gunpoint. However, when they did not turn back, tear gas and water cannons were used. Then the believers performed organized namaz on the road adjacent to the church.

In Occupied Palestine, Israel has imposed severe restrictions even for its citizens to go out. Al Jazeera correspondent Sarah Khairat said that most of them are staying at home.
