Israelis, injured in an armed attack in the West Bank

A Palestinian Islamist fired shots at an Israeli vehicle near the Palestinian town of Huwara, located near Nablus, in the northern West Bank.

Two Israelis were injured in the attack, one being in serious condition, said medical sources cited by The Times of Israel.

The Israeli authorities suspect that it is a terrorist attack. The Israeli military is actively searching for the perpetrator of the attack, according to Ynetnews.com.

Violence has increased over the past year in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, amid Israeli settlement activities and following a series of Palestinian attacks. Since the beginning of this year, 85 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli operations or while attempting to carry out attacks. Also, 14 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks.
