Jerusalem: Israel has announced that it will build 3,476 more immigrant homes in the occupied West Bank. Of these, 2,452 will be built in Mali Adumim in East Jerusalem, 694 in Kidar, and 330 in Efrat.

Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalil Smotrich said it was in response to an attack on Israeli soldiers two weeks ago in Mali Adumim. Last year, Israel’s cabinet approved regarding 20,000 settlement houses. At the same time, international criticism is rising once morest the spread of immigration.

Hamas responded that the settlement expansion was confirmation of Israel’s plan to seize Palestinian land. Countries like Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan also came forward to condemn it. U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last week that immigration would affect peace efforts.
