Italy announced on Saturday that it had banned flights from Brazil. This decision was made due to a new variant of the coronavirus discovered in this country.
‘I signed an ordinance that blocks flights from Brazil and bans entry into Italy for people who have stayed there in the last 14 days,’ Health Minister Roberto Speranza tweeted.
“Anyone already in Italy and coming from this country must undergo a test and contact the health authorities,” said the minister.
Italy, the first European country hard hit by the pandemic, has recorded more than 2.3 million cases, including more than 81,000 deaths.
