ARCHYDE.COM EXCLUSIVE – Breaking news today highlights an unprecedented advancement in mental health treatments across Spain. The Innovative Mixed Reality Platform, Core-MHC, developed by the European project CORTEX2, backed by Horizon Europe, is set to redefine how anxiety, stress, and depression are treated.
Overcoming Barriers with Mixed Reality
In an effort to combat the limited access to effective mental health treatments in Spain due to geographical, economic, and social stigma barriers, the IN Private Technology Center has introduced a groundbreaking solution. Core-MHC, a mixed reality (MR) platform, aims to make mental health therapy more accessible, effective, and engaging.
Mixed reality, combining elements of both the physical and digital worlds, allows users to interact with both simultaneously in real time using specialized glasses. This technological feat bridges the gap between patients and therapists, bypassing geographical constraints and mitigating the stigma surrounding psychological care.
Enhancing a Generation in Motion
“Traditional therapeutic methods do not always connect with a generation accustomed to the digital environment,” explains Patricia Pons, responsible for the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Research Group of ITI. The use of gamification and virtual environments enhances patient engagement and motivation, decreasing abandonment rates and increasing treatment continuity.
Platform Validation and Futures
Core-MHC is currently in its validation phase with the SASM Foundation, illustrating its potential to transform psychological care. In collaboration with ITI on the DIGISEM project, the platform has shown promising results in customizing treatments and enhancing patient privacy and adherence.
The SASM Foundation’s work demonstrates the platform’s capacity to facilitate multi-user occupational therapies, such as group sessions, through immersive experiences. “”This solution reinforces treatment commitment and user motivation,” notes Susana Ortega, educator and member of the SASM Foundation team.
Combating Anxiety, Stress, and Depression in the Digital Age
The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of mental health support, with increasing numbers of people seeking help. Innovations like Core-MHC offer hope by providing accessible, engaging, and effective solutions. By seamlessly integrating real-time physiology data, therapists can offer tailored interventions that adapt to individual patient needs.
Staying Ahead: The Ever-Evolving Landscape of Digital Health
The fusion of mental health and immersive technology isn’t just a fleeting trend; it represents the future of healthcare. As digital transformations continue to reshape the industry, tools like Core-MHC embody both the current urgency to address mental health and the long-term vision of a more connected and responsive healthcare system.
тренds, addressing mental health concerns in Spain are evolving rapidly, with access to effective treatments increasingly dependent on technological advancements. By these innovations, the country is paving the way for a more inclusive, accessible, and empowering approach to mental health support, ensuring that help is never out of reach.
