JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tight end Evan Engram and the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to a three-year, $41.25 million contract, including $24 million in guaranteed money, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity since the deal had not yet been announced to the public. Engram’s agent, Mike McCartney, announced via Twitter that a deal was done.

The two sides found common ground before Monday’s deadline for a player awarded the franchise player award to sign a long-term contract.

Engram was guaranteed a one-year contract and $11.345 million thanks to franchise player status. However, he said he wanted to sign a long-term contract.

His new average annual salary will be $13.75 million, which ranks him sixth among tight ends across the NFL.

A first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2017, Engram caught 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns last season.

He has developed a good cohesion with quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
