Australian Open CHAMPION Jannik Sinner advanced to the semifinals of the Indian Wells Masters, Thursday (14/3), following beating Czech Rep. Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-3.

Sinner extended his winning streak to 19 matches since appearing in the Davis Cup final last year. In 2024, Sinner is unbeaten in 16 consecutive matches.

Since winning his first Grand Slam title in Melbourne, Sinner has also managed to become champion in Rotterdam.

In her match once morest Lehecka, Sinner was in control, breaking her opponent’s serve early in each set and saving the only break point she faced.

“I am very satisfied because the situation on the court was very different. This morning it was windy so the first set was difficult,” said Sinner.

“He is an extraordinary tennis player and has great potential. So I try hard to score points quickly,” he continued.

In the semifinal match, Sinner will face the winner of the match between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev.

Alcaraz performed well at the Indian Wells Masters, showing no signs of the ankle injury that forced him to retire in the first round in Rio de Janeiro last February.

However, the Spaniard will face Zverev, who has won five of their eight meetings, including at the Australian Open. (AFP/Z-1)
