Japan’s two major airlines have canceled 133 domestic flights to and from Haneda Airport, where the fatal collision between two planes occurred on January 2, which left five people dead.

With part of the airport’s runways still remaining closed to traffic, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced the cancellation of 68 flights and All Nippon Airways (ANA) of 65 flights, affecting some 13,060 and 15,400 passengers respectively. Those who had planned to travel at the start of the year were forced to change their plans, creating great confusion at the country’s airports and in taking reservations.

The amount of damage from the accident involving the JAL Airbus and the Japanese coast guard plane was estimated at 15 billion yen (95 million euros).
