This is the face of Jarred Vanderbilt’s new contract with the legendary Californian franchise, if we are to believe the insider Shams Charania of The Athletic. The deal is 100% guaranteed and Vanderbilt even managed to land a player option in the fourth and final year.

This contract extension falls a year before the end of Vanderbilt’s current deal, who was to become a free agent in 2024 following a final season at just $4.6 million. With this deal at 12 million per year over the period 2024-2028, Jarred Vanderbilt almost triples his salary but it remains a really good deal for the Lakers, one more in the convincing summer of general manager Rob Pelinka.
Because even if Vanderbilt does not panic the scorers (8 points and 7 rebounds on average in 2022-23), he is one of those players that all teams would like to have in their squad. Excellent rebounder, strong defender and real energizer, the 24-year-old power forward was one of the reasons for the Lakers’ crazy rise in the second half of last season. As a reminder, Vanderbilt was transferred from the Jazz to Los Angeles at the time of the February trade deadline.
