Politics is often endured in a friendly manner at the start of the festival in Saalfelden. Once upon a time, the current governor of Salzburg, Wilfried Haslauer, was present with opening and encouraging words. After all: Haslauer was largely responsible for the fact that the festival was revived in 2005 following a year’s break and financial problems.
