Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Donate $100 Million to Rebuild Devastated Maui: Helping Recover from the Hawaii Fires

The American billionaire Jeff Bezos, founder of the giant Amazon, and his companion Lauren Sanchez will donate 100 million dollars, or approximately 90 million euros, to the Hawaiian island of Maui, completely ravaged by the serious fires that have occurred these last last days.

It was on Instagram that Sanchez, 53, announced the couple’s desire to participate in the reconstruction of the island. “Jeff and I are deeply moved by what is happening on Maui. We sympathize with all of the families who have already lost so much and the community that has been shattered,” she wrote.

As a reminder, the total number of deaths from these fires now stands at 80 people. Thousands of buildings were destroyed and many people lost their homes.

Authorities still fear that at least a thousand missing people may have died.
