Jenson Button Accused of Fraud: 2022 Car Sale Scandal

2024-02-12 07:34:00

2009 world champion Jenson Button is accused of fraud for providing incorrect information when selling a car.

In 2022, Jenson sold a blue 1970 Ford Bronco for £130,000 through the Collecting Cars website, saying he had owned it for four years. But it was later revealed that the owner was his wife, Britney Ward.

Lawyer Ethan Brown, speaking on behalf of car buyer Leo Eccles, said: “A trial date has not yet been set, but hearings will take place in the next few weeks.

The essence of the claim is that at the time of sale the car did not belong to Button, as stated, but to his then-girlfriend, and the payment made was significantly higher than the actual value of the car, based on the fact that it belonged to Button. My client demands a refund.”
