One of America’s most controversial television personalities, Jerry Springer, has died at age 79, reports TMZ.
According to a family spokesperson, he was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and his condition has deteriorated over the past few days.
He died at his residence in the greater Chicago area.
Jerry Springer hosted his eponymous show for 27 years, during which the speakers even came to blows.
The crowd regularly greeted him with cheers: “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!”.
He also served as mayor of Cincinnati for one term in 1977.
His last TV appearance was on the American version of Masked Singers in 2022.
