On August 15, we celebrate the Assumption, and therefore the ascent of Mary, mother of Christ, to heaven. The opportunity to go to Jette, where there is a replica very similar to the sacred grotto of Lourdes.
The place is symbolic for many believers. This grotto, located in Jette, is an almost perfect replica of that of Lourdes, where Bernadette Soubirous would have seen and heard the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858.
This replica was created in 1915. At the time, King Albert 1st decided to bring a piece of the Massabielle cave to Jette, so that practitioners might . In the middle of the First World War, the pilgrims might no longer move because of the conflict.
On August 15, the day of the Assumption, many faithful come here, to Jette, to gather there. Thousands of believers throng the grounds each year.
