The visit marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, according to Sky News. President Joe Biden has spoken several times regarding his Irish roots and has shown particular interest in the deal.
According to the schedule announced by the Americans, Biden will be in Belfast, Northern Ireland, from April 11-12, and then he will go to Ireland from April 12-14. During the visit, the US president will have numerous meetings, receptions and speeches, White House officials said.
The invitation to visit Northern Ireland came as Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met in San Diego to announce a deal with Australia on nuclear submarines.
