England captain Joe Root has expressed his desire to make his debut in the Indian Premier League. According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Route is all set to make its name in the upcoming IPL mega auction in 2022. He also aims to earn a place in the English team for the T20 World Cup by playing in the world’s largest franchise league.
Root is considered to be one of the best batsmen in modern cricket. He has not played in the IPL since he went unsold at the 2018 auction. But as next year’s tournament expands to include two new teams, it is expected that the player will be drawn to either team.
Root, who has excelled for England in Test cricket, has been left out of the squad for limited overs matches. The 30-year-old last played in a T20 match for England in May 2019. He has not been named in the upcoming T20 World Cup squad. The player wants to play in the Premier League for the English team at least in the next World Cup.
