José Alberto ‘El Canario’ releases his new single ‘If I told you’

Santo Domingo, Sep 23 (EFE).- Dominican salsa singer José Alberto ‘El Canario’ presented this Monday ‘Si te contara’, one of the singles from his bolero album ‘Rodando por el mundo’, nominated for the 2024 Latin Grammy for best traditional tropical album.

‘Si te contara’ is a classic Cuban bolero, created by Félix Reina in Mexico in 1958, while he was a violinist for the legendary Orquesta América. It was first recorded by Fajardo y sus Estrellas in 1960.

“This is a piece that, within the album, pays tribute to the charango part of the bolero, to the bolero-chá and to the violin as such. We made an arrangement that also has a big band feel, through the use of saxophones. I like it a lot, because it has lyricism and flavor at the same time,” said José Alberto in a statement.

‘Rolling Around the World’ is entirely dedicated to bolero music, with the participation of musicians Jorge Celedón (Colombia); Alexander Abreu, Alejandro Almenares, Azabache de Cuba, Los Guanches, Magic Sax Quartet and Pablo Milanés (Cuba); Charlie Aponte, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Víctor Manuelle (Puerto Rico); Milly Quezada and Sergio Vargas (Dominican Republic), among others.
