Journalist Ivan Safronov, serving a 22-year sentence for treason, was transported to the FSIN tuberculosis hospital in the regional center, transmits “Kommersant” September 26.

According to the publication, they decided to take additional tests from Safronov on the way to IK-15, located in Norilsk. They planned to transport him there among 22 prisoners, but the journalist was sent from the transit point to the hospital. There he was given an ECG, fluorography and a blood test.

At the same time, Ivan Safronov’s lawyer, who came to see him for a short visit, notes that the journalist is “completely healthy, still cheerful.”

Previously, it was assumed that Ivan Safronov would serve his sentence in a maximum security colony near Krasnoyarsk. The reasons for the transfer to the FSIN are not given, but according to Kommersant, the matter is due to the rotation of prisoners due to the closure or repurposing of a number of institutions.
