(ANSA) – NEW YORK, JULY 21 – After almost thirty years Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington find themselves acting together again. The last time was in 1993 with ‘The Pelican report’. The two actors will be the protagonists of the film Leave the World Behind, based on the novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam to be released in the autumn and for which Netflix has been awarded the rights.
Sam Esmail, known for the films Comet (2014), Mockingbird – Live from Hell (2014) and for the TV series Mr. Robot (2015), will direct the director for what already promises to be a successful film.
Leave the World Behind is the story of two alien families forced to be together on a terrible weekend. Roberts plays the role of the mother of the family who rents the house, while Washington plays the role of the owner. The story also explores the complexities of parenting, racial and class issues.
