Carinthia’s governor Peter Kaiser (SPÖ) took over the chairmanship of the state governors’ conference at the beginning of the month. The official handover of the baton will take place on Monday morning by his counterpart in Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) at Schlaining Castle in southern Burgenland. The thematic focus for the next six months will also be on fiscal equalization at Kaiser.
Kaiser has already made it clear that the federal states are vehemently opposed to an extension or continuation of the current fiscal equalization. He also warned of a funding gap in the key tasks of the federal states.
Since the presidency of the state chamber also moved to Carinthia in July, the new Federal Council President Claudia Arpa and her predecessor in this function, Günter Kovacs (both SPÖ), as well as other members of the Federal Council and the state government, will also take part in the media event on Monday.
