Sergey Karasev told how he reacted to the fact that he was not able to work at the 2022 World Cup.

“What sadness can there be that you didn’t work at the World Cup? We have been living in a vacuum since February. I already perfectly understood that it was unlikely, and got used to this idea. This is life, that’s how it is.

I did not put myself in the place of the referees of the World Cup, I do not like it. Either I’m there or I’m not there,” the referee said.

Sergei Karasev was included in the preliminary list of judges for World Cup 2022but in the final list published FIFA in May, he missed.
