In the 19 years of his NBA career that saw him play 1669 games, he did it 15,271 times. His 36,928 points in the regular season are second only to Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s 38,387 and the 40,474 (and counting) by LeBron James. A myth, a legend. But with a shadow (or two, or three) that has followed him since he was a kid.
