Karnataka High Court to install CCTVs in mortuaries. The court asked the state government to increase security to prevent hospital attendants from cremating dead bodies of young women. The court has given the government 6 months time to install CCTVs in government and private hospital mortuaries.

The verdict was delivered by a bench comprising Justice B Veerappa and Justice Venkatesh Naik. Unfortunately, there is no law once morest Shawarati in the country and the court asked the Center to pass a law making Shawarati a criminal offence. The High Court also directed to keep mortuaries clean along with CCTVs. Hospitals should keep the information of such patients confidential if they die by suicide or AIDS. Do not prepare the post-mortem room in direct view of the public. The court said that the hospital staff should have a proper understanding of how to handle the dead body and the family of the deceased.
