Vienna – Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) justified the controversial police operation during the European Gas Conference from March 27th to 29th in Vienna in response to a parliamentary question from Green MP Georg Bürstmayr. The police officers used pepper spray “following realizing that the mere use of physical strength was not enough to stop the activists’ resistance once morest the chain of custody”.
