The announcement came on Thursday. The Christian Democrats Joel Edoff and Fredrik Hanström sat as the only party representatives in opposition in Åtvidaberg’s municipal council – but chose to become political savages for Folklistan.
– It’s great fun, EU parliamentarian and former KD politician Sara Skyttedal told Corren newspaper.
But now Fredrik Hanström (KD) turns around and speaks up Corren newspaper that he wants to stay within the party.
– I have thought regarding it. The Christian values are most important to me, he tells the newspaper.
Are you remorseful?
– It has become a circus.
During the interview, Fredrik Hanström admits that the chairman of the party district and Member of Parliament Magnus Oscarsson (KD) sought him out in the followingnoon to talk regarding the decision.
“A PR stunt”
When SVT Nyheter got in touch with Magnus Oscarsson earlier on Thursday, the situation was called “a PR stunt”.
– It is just to state that this party, Folklistan, has succeeded in yet another PR stunt when you get people in Åtvidaberg to switch to their party in this way, says Magnus Oscarsson (KD), Member of Parliament from Östergötland.
He does not see Folklistan as a threat to the Christian Democrats in the EU elections and says they should continue to promote Christian Democratic politics in Åtvidaberg.
– There may be personal friendship behind this, so I’m not really that surprised. But we in the Christian Democrats will continue to highlight Christian Democratic politics in Åtvidaberg in order to remain there, says Magnus Oscarsson.
