Keanu Reeves at the helm of BRZRKR, his first comic book

The Chosen One has not finished surprising us. After cinema, theater, music and video games, Keanu Reeves started writing comics. The BOOM editor! Studios announced the launch of a new series limited to twelve numbers entitled BRZRKR October 7, 2020 in the United States. The star of Matrix is in charge of this new project which seems to correspond to him totally.

Berzerker is a cursed demigod and forced into violence for a living, sometimes even to the detriment of his sanity. But after wandering the world for millennia, he may have finally found a refuge. By working for the US government to wage battles that are too violent and too dangerous for anyone, he hopes to find in return the truth about his existence and how to end it.

With BRZRKR, the BOOM editor! seems to be inspired by comics The Old Guard, recently adapted on Netflix. Keanu Reeves is the main source of inspiration for the character of Berserker. Graphically, this is her spitting image while her look easily matches her role in John Wick. The first visuals of the series also offer a big nod to the actor with his Sad Keanu meme.

«I have loved comics since I was a child and they have influenced me a lot artistically explique Keanu Reeves in the press release. Have the chance to create BRZRKR and collaborating with industry legends is a dream come true. The comedian is accompanied by Matt Kindt on writing, successful screenwriter of the titles Mind MGMT or Dept H, and Alessandro Vitti in the drawings, known for his work on Secret Warriors.

Screenwriter Matt Kindt promises an adventure that is both unique and exciting: “With BRZRKR, we have mixed a potent cocktail of all the things we love: the story of an immortal warrior mixed with history, conspiracies, spirituality and gigantic scenes of mad action and violence. All in an intense narrative and a heartbreaking finale».

We will have to wait a little longer to discover Keanu Reeves’ first comic book in France. In the meantime, fans can catch a glimpse of the actor in Bill and Ted Face the Music as well as in the fourth installments of Matrix and John Wick postponed to 2022.
