Kochi: Kerala Bank president and CPM state committee member Gopi Kotamurikal has said that there is no need to help Karuvannur Bank while there are rumors that Kerala Bank will help it to solve its current financial crisis. Gopi Kotamurikal said that neither NABARD nor Reserve Bank asked Kerala Bank not to help Karuvannur Bank.

“Till now no authority has asked Kerala Bank to intervene to resolve the financial difficulties facing Karuvannur Bank. They know better than us that it is not their task”, said Gopi Kottamurikal. He added that in the event that the government demands this and the RBI opposes it, a collective stand will be taken.

Gopi Kotamurikal clarified that such a matter has not come before the Kerala Bank so far and whatever the party says on the matter, it will be implemented. The Kerala Bank president said that he was not an employee of the Reserve Bank but a responsible party worker and said that he would help Karuvannur Bank within 24 hours if requested by the party or the government. He added that no such demand was raised in the party faction meeting held last day.
