Kerala Rain | Girl killed in car accident in Thodupuzha Search for companions

Idukki: A man was killed when his car overturned at Thodupuzha Kanjar in heavy rain. The body of the girl who was in the car was found. The search for those who were with him continues. The wrecked car has been found. Heavy rains caused extensive damage in central and southern Kerala. The worst affected districts are Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta. Landslides occurred in Idukki and Pathanamthitta. The situation in Kuttikkal panchayat in Kottayam where the landslide occurred is critical. It is learned that the bodies of two persons were found. Locals say seven people are still missing.

Meanwhile, the Met office said that another low pressure area will form near Kerala. Warning of low pressure in the Arabian Sea within 24 hours. Red Alert has been declared in five districts of the state. The Red Alert is in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. So the next 24 hours should be extremely vigilant. The rivers overflowed at several places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts. Many roads were flooded.

In Poonjar south, a record amount of rain fell in one hour. Many roads here were flooded. Peringulam – Water flooded the foothills. Travel to Erumeli-Mundakkayam area has been banned due to floods at mile 26 of Kanjirapally. Traffic on Devikulam Gap Road has been banned in Idukki. The city of Thiruvananthapuram was flooded. Heavy rains continue in the eastern part of Kottayam district. Areas like Poonjar, Mundakkayam and Elangad receive heavy rainfall.

Poonjar south coast alone received over 75 mm of rainfall in the last one hour. The Kanjirapally-Erattupetta road was flooded. The streams are overflowing. Traffic was disrupted due to flooding at Mundakkayam Crossway. Many homes in the area have been flooded.
