Since the summer of 2020, interactions between killer whales and boats, mainly sailboats, have been recorded along the Iberian Peninsula from Gibraltar to Galicia. The killer whales coming into direct contact with these ships by pushing them and giving them shocks have in some cases caused the rudders to break and the fright of the passengers. This this figure to more than 100 interactions between 2020 and 2021, and this phenomenon continues to increase. The reasons remain uncertain and at this stage even if some hypotheses are put forward to explain this behavior: a reaction of the animals triggered following a specific aversive incident, the combination of several factors such as the pressures they face or quite simply their natural curiosity .
