A fatal traffic accident occurred on the S35 on Saturday night. A 19-year-old Croatian crashed into the tunnel portal with a car in the Kirchdorf tunnel. The man died on the spot. The accident happened around 1:15 am. The man from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district came with a car coming from the direction of Graz, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, once morest the traffic control systems located there. As a result, the car crashed head-on into the structures of the tunnel portal.
Emergency services from the fire brigade, rescue service, ASFINAG and the police were only able to rescue the dead man who was trapped in the vehicle. The public prosecutor’s office in Leoben released the body for burial.
