The investigative journalist Franz Miklautz had uncovered salaries and lavish overtime payments in Klagenfurt town hall in his research using internal documents. This had brought him investigations by the public prosecutor’s office for contributing to the violation of official secrecy – namely because of a complaint by the city.
An official apology followed from the mayor, Christian Scheider (Team Carinthia). The cause of investigations into Miklautz now led to the dissolution of the coalition under Scheider. So far, the Carinthia team has ruled in the provincial capital with SPÖ and ÖVP. More information will follow shortly. (red, June 23, 2023)
