Tensions have increased significantly since the end of May when four elected mayors – Albanians – wanted to take office in the Serb-majority communities in northern Kosovo. Serbian criminals seriously injured Kosovo Forces (KFOR) soldiers. The West is demanding de-escalating steps from the Kosovar government.
