Kristjánsson does not have to pay party tax on the new book

Kristjánsson has received good reviews for his new book “Pabbi – a family saga about drunkenness”. Now the Rødt politician receives a happy message from his own party – he gets to keep every kroner he earns from the book, writes The class struggle.

It is clear after the party leadership in Rødt has processed an application from Kristjánsson to keep the book income out of the party tax. In Rødt, all income over NOK 782,784 must be paid into the party.

The parliamentary representative confirms that he applied to avoid paying the book income to the party.

– It is because I felt that it would have been strange to give up the money from such a personal and private project about my family, where my life is the raw material of the project. It would actually have been a little invasive to give up the money from that, so that’s why I applied for it. This is not a political book either, he says.

Kristjánsson can make good money from the publication. Already on the same day that the book was launched, Kagge publishing had to order a new edition of 5,000 books – and even more will probably have to be printed.

The book is about the demanding relationship Mímir Kristjánsson himself and his father have had with alcohol throughout their lives.
