Labour Law Violations in Muscat: 804 Inspections Conducted and 1,139 Arrests Made in May

Muscat: 1,139 expatriate workers were arrested in Muscat governorate in May in connection with labor law violations. The Ministry of Labor conducted 804 inspection campaigns. Of those arrested, 990 were deported. Among those arrested were 210 people who worked in areas reserved for Omani nationals.

291 people were arrested for working for someone else instead of their employer. 26 persons were convicted for doing work other than the work assigned to them. Officials said that the inspections will continue in the coming days.
