Landslide buried at least 44 people in Yunnan, China

According to the Zhenxiong district government, the landslide occurred at regarding 5:51 a.m. in Liangshui village, Tangfang town. Chinese State Television (CCTV) cited preliminary statistical results as saying that 44 people living in 18 households were buried. Over 200 people were evacuated from the area.

An emergency force of 200 rescue workers and dozens of fire vehicles and many pieces of equipment were deployed to the scene to search for missing people.

Images on social networks show rescuers urgently searching through the rubble of houses in this snow-covered mountain region.
