Langnau’s Victory Over Lugano: SCL Tigers Stop Lugano’s Winning Streak in National League Match

2023-11-23 21:45:42

The SCL Tigers stopped Lugano’s run by winning 3-2 in Ticino. The Bernese won in the only National League match of the evening.

Langnau continues to surprise positively and takes his revenge in Lugano following the 8-0 slap received at home during the first duel of the season in mid-October. The Emmentalois deserved their success especially in the first two thirds, where they were clearly the better team.

Finland’s Mäenalanen and Pesonen kept the Tigers leading 2-0 until halftime, before things became tense. Twice in numerical superiority, the Luganese equalized through Carr and Thürkauf.

A coach challenge that cancels the equalizer

It only took 13 seconds for Langnau to regain the lead through Julian Schmutz. They didn’t fall behind once more for the remaining 19 minutes, not least because Alatalo’s equalizer 90 seconds before the end was canceled out due to an obstruction by goalkeeper Charlin.

The Tigers won for the 5th time in the last 6 matches, while Lugano lost for the 1st time following 3 wins.
