This is how much the number of illegal drone flights in Aalborg Airport and Flyvestation Aalborg’s airspace has increased.
In the last quarter of 2023, 40 illegal flights were recorded, while in the same period in 2022 only five were recorded.
It can create major challenges when a drone moves into the airspace – in the worst case, it may be necessary to close the airspace.
– We have no reason to believe that there are some who do it on purpose, so in 99 percent of the cases it is people who just haven’t familiarized themselves with the rules well enough, says Morten Valentin Jensen, who is communications manager at Aalborg Airport
The most critical moment
Setting up the drone close to the airport can be very risky.
– The most critical phases when flying an airplane are when you take off and when you land. So it should preferably be as easy as possible. So we are getting quite annoyed by it, because it actually harasses our flight quite a lot, says Morten Valentin Jensen.
Understand the fascination
It is not because the Airport will confiscate all drones in the North Jutland Region.
On the contrary.
– We fully understand the fascination with drones, and there are plenty of airspaces where you can play with your drone. But for God’s sake don’t do it next to an airport, says the call.
