Large-scale deployment of the fire brigade in an apartment fire in Leopoldstadt

On Saturday evening there was a large-scale operation by the fire brigade and other emergency organizations in an apartment fire in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. As a spokesman for the Vienna fire brigade confirms, a fire broke out in a residential building on Engerthstraße shortly following 5 p.m. in an apartment on the 4th floor. The flames were shooting out of the windows, and when the fire brigade arrived the property was already fully engulfed in flames.

“The extinguishing work takes place under respiratory protection. An extinguishing line had to be laid to the affected apartment,” explains the spokesman. Initially, no information regarding injuries and the cause of the fire was known. The fire was considered extinguished just following 7 p.m.
