A large-scale police operation is underway at Brussels-Midi station. A few dozen police officers were deployed on the ground, reports HLN.

A first operation was organized on Saturday. More than 200 police officers had combed through the Gare du Midi, arresting the homeless, wanderers and pickpockets, under the watchful eye of the mayors of Saint-Gilles and Anderlecht.

“Everyone knows that the situation has been complicated around the station for many years,” said Jean Spinette, mayors of Saint-Gilles (PS), on Saturday. At the end of the day, the police zone announced the arrest of 56 people.
