The president of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority, Abdellatif Bardach, was elected, on Wednesday, vice-president of the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG), during its 30th general assembly held remotely by videoconference imposed by the current context of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this general assembly, the members of the Presidency Council, composed of the president and three vice-presidents, were elected for the period 2020-2022. They are: Mr. Petrit Ahmeti, as President (Albanian Energy Regulator – ERE); Mr. Abdellatif Bardach, as vice-president (National Authority for Electricity Regulation of Morocco – ANRE); Mr. Karem Mahmoud, as vice-president (Egyptian Regulatory Authority for Gas – GASREG) and permanent vice-president Mr. Stefano Besseghini (Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment – ARERA ).
Besides the election of the Presidency Council, the 30th General Assembly was also the occasion to elect the new presidency of the working groups within MEDREG. The election of the Kingdom of Morocco to the post of vice-president of MEDREG reflects the credibility of the Kingdom with international organizations and associations. It is also a recognition of Morocco’s tireless efforts in the fields of electric power and renewable energies, in accordance with the Royal High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Glorify and Assist Him.
