The leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, at a meeting of the Basmanny Court in Moscow, refused to admit his guilt in justifying terrorism on the Internet. He called the accusations proposed by the investigation nonsense.

Judge Evgenia Nikolaeva considered the investigation’s request to arrest Udaltsov behind closed doors. This happened because the documents justifying the arrest are a secret protected by law, investigators concluded.
On January 11, Sergei Udaltsov was searched, following which he was detained and taken in for questioning. He faces a sentence of five to seven years in prison on charges of justifying terrorism. Udaltsov had previously been found guilty of organizing mass riots and sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, but in 2017 he was granted release. He denies any wrongdoing and is awaiting consideration of a preventive measure.
