The “Lebanese Debate” learned that the meeting that took place today, Monday, between former President Michel Aoun and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, was limited to discussing matters in general without delving into the details of the Lebanese internal files, especially the presidential file.

During the meeting, President Aoun explained to President Al-Assad the necessity of stopping at the Christian consensus on the name of the candidate for the presidency, in order to preserve the rights and role of Christians in the decision-making process.

For his part, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed to President Aoun that Syria would not interfere in internal Lebanese affairs and advised him to discuss internal matters with the Secretary General of “Hezbollah”, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
