Lebanon: Detention of a ship carrying Ukrainian grain

Beirut (agencies)

Yesterday, the Discriminatory Public Prosecutor in Lebanon issued a decision to seize a ship carrying barley, which the Ukrainian embassy in Beirut said was illegally loaded from areas in Ukraine that have come under Russian control.
A judicial official said that the discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Ghassan Oweidat, assigned the General Directorate of Customs and the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces to conduct preliminary investigations into the case of the ship “Ludysia” anchored in the port of Tripoli in northern Lebanon and which was flying the Syrian flag.
Oweidat ordered, according to the same source, to “seize the ship until the investigation is over,” and assigned the Information Division to communicate with the Russian and Ukrainian embassies in Lebanon.
