Mexico City. At the conclusion of the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, reiterated today that the “unfortunate” phenomenon of cancer in children is the center of the government’s solidarity and empathy. Also, he announced the return of the evening press conferences around the covid-19 pandemic, once a week.
Now, once President López Obrador told the parents of children with cancer that his administration is working hard to supply their children with medicine, his official
described as “absolutely legitimate” the concern of the relatives.
Today’s morning conference brought up the topic of drugs to fight cancer. When the president was asked about previous statements by López-Gatell, the president hardened his face, while the undersecretary abandoned his usual cell phone consultation and shook his head.
At the end of the presentation to the media, and once the president told a reporter that he was leaving López-Gatell there to give him an exclusive, the undersecretary touched on the subject, and took the opportunity to announce the return of the conferences of evening press around the Covid-19 pandemic, once a week.
Like the president repeated that the federal government has feelings of empathy and solidarity with family members. “What I said and I maintain is: the phenomenon of cancer in itself is unfortunate, it is tragic, it is painful, that girls and boys suffer it is doubly painful or multiply painful, that those same people lack medication is also painful.”
“And in that sense I consider it absolutely legitimate, I have always considered it, I have said it multiple times, the president has just said it, it is the position of our government, we consider that the parents or relatives of children with cancer have a legitimate reason to have those concerns, it’s absolutely legitimate. “
