Despite the cancellation of an evening due to the weather, the Les Georges music festival ended on Saturday in Friborg with a positive result. More than 16,000 spectators attended the three free evenings and three paid evenings, according to the organizers.
The extreme weather conditions on Tuesday July 11 forced the organizers to evacuate Place Georges-Python, where the festival was taking place, and then to cancel the concerts.
“The emotional and financial consequences of this decision are not negligible,” said director Xavier Meyer, quoted in a statement released overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
Fishbach, Flavien Berger, Monte Mai and Glaascats were scheduled to perform that night.
Thirty artists
In total, this ninth edition had around thirty artists. The organizers had decided to renew the experience of a second stage within the festival grounds.
The event ended Saturday evening “in apotheosis” with the concert of the Malian duo Amadou & Mariam, “in front of a large and conquered audience”, welcomed the organizers.
The next edition of Les Georges will take place from July 15 to 20, 2024.
